Nigeria We Hail Thee was the first adopted Nigeria National Anthem on October 1, 1960 when The country got independent by Lillian Jean Williams a British who decided to live in Nigeria,
while the music was composed by Frances Berda before it was replaced with Arise O Compatriots which was adopted in 1978 those words and phrase was taken from five (5) out of the best entries in national contest of the following:
john A. Ilechukwu
 Eme Etim Akpan
B. A. Ogunnaike,
Sota Omoigui
P.O. Aderibigbe and was set to music by Police band under the directorship of Benedict E. Odiase
Nigeria we hail thee,
Our own dear native land
Though tribe and tongue may differ
In brotherhood we stand.
Nigeria all am proud to serve
Our sovereign mother land
