WASHINGTON —
Marchers in the Women's March on Washington will soon begin moving after an energetic three-hour rally, during which they have been cheering for speakers that include media stars and women's rights activists.
A sea of pink hats stretches in all directions from the rally stage at the intersection of Third and Independence avenues. VOA reporters on the scene report that Independence is still packed at 14th Street and the crowd extends northward from there.
According to Associated Press, organizers are wondering if the formal march can begin, given the number of people along the route. The march is supposed to proceed down Independence Avenue, close to the Capitol towards 14th Street, not far from the White House.
